About Client

KBF Trading & Contracting Co. W.L.L. is a Qatar-based business enterprise with a history dating back to 1973. Founded by the late Sheikh Khalifa Bin Fahad Al-Thani, KBF initially focused on the oil and gas sector and has since expanded its operations into trading, contracting, industrial systems, and related business activities.

Today, KBF is led by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Chairman and CEO, and works with international organizations across Qatar’s energy and industrial sectors. The company provides industrial materials, equipment, engineering and technical solutions, and services supporting major energy and infrastructure projects.

As part of its commitment to responsible business practices and employee awareness, KBF partnered with Swift eLearning Services to transform its comprehensive Code of Conduct and compliance training into an engaging digital learning experience.

The Challenge

KBF’s training covered a wide range of topics, from company principles and workplace conduct to legal compliance, information security, anti-bribery, cybersecurity, and disciplinary actions.

The challenge was not simply to convert the content into digital format. The content covered subjects with very different levels of complexity and required learners to understand how compliance principles apply in practical workplace situations.

Presenting all topics in a single course could result in a lengthy learning experience and make it difficult for learners to focus on individual subjects.

The key requirements were to:

  • Structure the content into manageable learning units.
  • Make compliance topics more engaging than traditional page-by-page training.
  • Use scenarios and examples to connect policies with workplace situations.
  • Simplify complex subjects through visual storytelling and animation.
  • Reinforce learning through case studies, knowledge checks, and assessments.
  • Create a structured compliance learning experience that employees could complete progressively.

Want to convert compliance content into eLearning?

Our Approach

Microlearning Strategy

Our first recommendation was to move away from a single long Code of Conduct course and adopt a microlearning approach. Each major subject was developed as a separate SCO, allowing the organization to provide focused learning experiences around individual compliance topics.

This approach made the overall program easier to navigate while allowing learners to focus on one subject at a time. It also provided a more flexible structure for managing and delivering compliance training through an LMS.

Content Analysis and Instructional Strategy

Our instructional designers reviewed the content to identify key concepts, policies, rules, examples, and areas that could benefit from additional learner engagement. Instead of treating every section in the same way, the instructional approach was adapted to the complexity and nature of each topic.

Straightforward information was presented using clear visual layouts and interactions, while more complex concepts were supported with animation, scenarios, and case-based learning.

Level 2 Interactivity

For content that did not require complex animation, we used a Level 2 eLearning approach to move beyond simple click-and-next navigation. Content was chunked into smaller sections and presented using:

  • Interactive layouts
  • Tabs and click-to-reveal interactions
  • Infographics
  • Visual comparisons
  • Knowledge checks
  • Interactive content exploration

The objective was to make the learning experience more engaging while keeping the interaction appropriate to the subject matter.

Level 3 Animation

Certain compliance topics involved concepts that were more difficult to explain through static screens. For these subjects, we introduced Level 3 animation and visual storytelling.

Complex information was broken down into simpler visual sequences so that learners could understand the concept progressively rather than reading large amounts of policy related text. This approach helped differentiate complex topics from straightforward informational content.

Scenario Based Learning

Scenarios were incorporated at the beginning of topics to introduce learners to realistic workplace situations. Rather than starting immediately with policy definitions or rules, learners could first encounter a situation and consider how they should respond.

This approach helped establish context and connect compliance concepts with everyday workplace decisions.

Case Studies and Practical Examples

Case studies were incorporated within selected topics or toward the end of a learning module. These examples gave learners an opportunity to apply the principles covered in the training to practical situations.

For subjects such as conflict of interest, anti-bribery and corruption, confidentiality, workplace conduct, and information security, practical examples helped demonstrate how compliance principles can apply in real workplace circumstances.

Knowledge Checks and Final Assessment

Knowledge checks were incorporated throughout the learning experience to reinforce important concepts. A final assessment was also included to evaluate learner understanding and completion of the training.

The course was structured so that learners were required to achieve 100% in the final assessment to successfully complete the training, based on the client's requirements.

Visual Design and Multimedia

The visual treatment was designed to make policy-heavy content easier to understand and navigate. Infographics, icons, illustrations, animation, and interactive elements were used where appropriate to reduce text-heavy screens and improve content presentation.

The design approach was also kept consistent across the individual microlearning modules so that the complete program maintained a unified visual identity.

Key Topics Covered

The Code of Conduct training addressed a broad range of subjects, including:

  • Company Core Principles
  • Compliance, Laws and Standards
  • Cybersecurity and Data Protection
  • Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption
  • Conflict of Interest
  • Information Security
  • Confidentiality, Antitrust, and Fair Competition
  • Respect at Workplace
  • Social Media and External Communication
  • Disciplinary Actions and Consequences

Outcome

The project transformed a broad Code of Conduct curriculum into a structured and engaging digital learning program. The microlearning strategy provided learners with focused modules rather than one lengthy course, while the combination of Level 2 interactions, Level 3 animation, scenarios, case studies, and assessments created a more varied learning experience.

The resulting training program helped the organization:

  • Break complex compliance content into focused learning modules.
  • Present policies and standards in a more engaging format.
  • Connect compliance concepts with practical workplace situations.
  • Use animation and visual storytelling for complex subjects.
  • Reinforce learning through scenarios, case studies, and assessments.
  • Deliver individual learning modules as separate SCOs through an LMS.
  • Create a scalable structure for corporate compliance training.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of training content can be converted into compliance eLearning?

We can transform PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, Word documents, manuals, policies, procedures, and other existing training materials into interactive compliance eLearning. This can include Code of Conduct, ethics, workplace behavior, cybersecurity, information security, and regulatory training.

What does eLearning development include?

Depending on the project requirements, eLearning development can include content analysis, instructional design, visual design, interactive elements, scenarios, case studies, animation, assessments, voice-over, quality assurance, and SCORM packaging.

Can compliance eLearning be delivered as separate microlearning modules?

Yes. A broad compliance curriculum can be divided into focused microlearning modules, with individual topics developed as separate SCOs. This approach can make large training programs easier to navigate, manage, and deploy through an LMS.

How much does compliance eLearning development cost and how long does it take?

The cost and timeline depend on factors such as the volume and complexity of the content, number of modules, level of interactivity, animation, scenarios, voice-over, assessments, and review requirements. Share your training content with us, and we can assess the scope and provide a tailored quotation and estimated timeline.
