Fall Control Principles

Elimination, prevention, and control measures for falls from ladders, scaffolds, buckets, towers, and work platforms.

02

Surface and Elevation Safety

Differences between falls on level surfaces vs. falls from elevation, plus proper ladder usage tips.

03

Equipment Standards

Application of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) standards, provincial height requirements, personal fall arrest systems (PFAS), travel-restraints, guardrails, warning line systems, safety nets, and controlled access zones.

04

Anchor and System Components

Safety factors for designed fixed support, temporary fixed support, and existing structural features, along with rope-breaking strengths, clearance, and the pendulum effect.

05

Inspection and Plan Execution

Procedures for inspecting harnesses, lanyards, and connectors for defects, correct harness donning, proper equipment storage, and executing fall protection plans for rescue training, suspension trauma, and elevated work platforms.
