To add data entry fields, click on the INSERT tab in the Storyline ribbon. You can see data entry field section with two types, text entry field, and numeric entry field. The text entry field accepts alphanumeric characters and the numeric entry field accepts numbers, decimals, and hyphens which are used to represent the negative numbers.

Select one of the data entry fields and draw on the slide or layer. You can see a default variable created when a data entry field is selected. This helps to display the text that is typed by the user in the course.
