Articulate Rise: How to configure Storyline block completion

In Articulate Rise, you can now embed the interactive and engaging activities designed in Articulate Storyline. Not just embedding but also restrict the users from jumping to next slide until they complete the activity. This can be accomplished easily by adding Continue block type in Articulate Rise and it works like a Continue button and gives you more control over navigation.

Let’s look at how to include this feature in Articulate Rise.

Step 1

Open Articulate Rise course. Select edit mode in any of the block and click the “plus icon (+)”.

From the block library, select the “Divider” option.

Here, you can see the list of blocks. From the list select “Continue” block.

It automatically get added to the slide as “CONTINUE”. Then, click the close (X) button to close the “block library” popup.

Now, select the layer and click “edit” option.

In Edit Continue panel, set the Completion Type to complete the block.

A Continue block has following Completion Types:

None (Always Show Button): Button is enabled. Learners can move to another block without any restriction.

Complete All Blocks Above: Button is disabled. It restricts learners from moving to another page until they view all blocks above.

Complete Block Directly Above: Button is disabled. Learners must complete the content above to move to another page.

In the completion type dropdown list, select “Complete Block Directly Above”.

Step 7

Now, select the “preview” on top right corner to view the output.

Now, a “Lock icon” is shown which means the content is restricted. Once we complete the interaction on the slide, “Complete the content above before moving on” button will be enabled.

Use Continue button to navigate to the next slide.
