scorm cloud lms - aicc error unable to contact aicc course management system

Error propelling Results within AICC Compliant in SCORM Cloud LMS

While reviewing one of the courses in Lectora which was developed years ago, we have been running into unknown error while launching test results within the AICC course in SCORM Cloud LMS.

Our Solution

Lectora Software releases updates regularly. We opened the course developed in Lectora Inspire: v12.0.0 in the latest version 18. The default triggers which were applied in the course was deleted and replaced with the default triggers of Lectora 18. When the course was published and reviewed, the error “Unable to contact AICC Course Management System. This course must be run from within the AICC Course Management System” didn’t pop-up making the result page run back to normal.

About AICC:

All you need to know about the AICC (Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee):

It is one of the standards in the eLearning society, coming from the aviation industry and it is known as the Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee formed in the year 1988 by Aircraft manufacturers. A Vast number of older legacy CBT (Education Technology) applications prefer to use this specification. In the year 1993, it was regarded as the first runtime compatibility specification in the Learning Management System.

LMS being a learning platform should be AICC-compliant and able to provide and deliver content that clings to at least one of the nine guidelines and recommendations of AICC. It’s standards originally designed for CD-ROM/LAN (local file-based) operation when established, but as the increase in the technology and to enable communication allying with eLearning and an LMS, AICC uses the HTTP AICC Communication Protocol (HACP), added web-based training in the year 1998.

AICC with its limited functions cannot track down progress in the course and makes it necessary to use multiple operations to recover data from the LMS.
