Storyline 360 Tutorial

Articulate Storyline: How to Publish a Single Slide or Scene

In earlier legacy versions of Articulate Storyline, developers had to publish the entire course file even when testing minor updates on a single slide. Articulate Storyline 360 streamlines this workflow by allowing instructional designers to publish individual slides or specific scenes directly.

Selectively publishing small sections saves significant rendering time during review cycles and quality assurance testing.

Benefits of Selective Course Publishing

  • Faster Review Cycles

Renders small course chunks in seconds rather than processing entire multi-scene projects.

  • Isolated Troubleshooting

Test complex JavaScript triggers, quiz variables, or media syncs without background course noise.

  • Targeted Stakeholder Previews

Share specific scenario modules or updated slides with SMEs without revealing incomplete sections.

Step-by-Step Publishing Guide

  1. 01

    Launch the Publish Window

Open your Storyline project, navigate to the Home tab on the top ribbon, and click Publish (or press Ctrl + Shift + F12).

    Choose Your Publish Target

Select one of the following options based on your review needs:

    • Entire Project: Renders every scene and slide across the course file.
    • A Single Scene: Select a specific scene from the drop-down menu to export only that module.
    • A Single Slide: Select a specific slide from the drop-down menu to publish an isolated page.
  4. 04

    Export Content

Click OK to confirm your scope selection, then click the main Publish button at the bottom of the window to generate your output files.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Will publishing a single slide include the player menu?

Yes. The outer player wrapper renders, but the navigation menu will display only the single slide or scene selected for export.

Can I publish a single slide to SCORM format for LMS testing?

Yes. You can apply the single slide or single scene filter under the LMS tab and export it as a standard SCORM 1.2 or SCORM 2004 package.

Does selective publishing alter or delete the rest of my Storyline project?

No. It only filters what gets compiled into the published output folder; your main project file remains completely unchanged.
